Virtual libraries for 5-HT2A drug discovery
A 75-million-compound virtual library was screened for molecules targeting the serotonin 5-HT2A receptor. Two synthesized candidates produced antidepressant-like responses in mice without the standard mouse behavioral proxy for psychedelic effects.
A useful example of computational search linking molecular design, receptor activity, behavior, and uncertainty about human translation.
